LEGO factories produce approximately 2 million elements every hour, which totals about 36,000 to 75,000 pieces every minute depending on the season. The manufacturing process uses high-pressure injection molding machines that operate with a precision of 0.002 millimeters. This ensures that bricks made today still fit perfectly with those manufactured in the 1950s.The environmental impact of this volume has led the company to invest 400 million dollars into sustainability initiatives. They are currently researching bio-polyethylene and recycled materials to replace traditional ABS plastic. Despite these changes, the sheer volume of existing plastic bricks means they remain one of the most common man-made objects on the planet. If you were to stack all existing LEGO bricks, the tower would reach the Moon more than ten times.
